Our story begins with a single determined African Grey parrot who could shred his way through anything — including his own feathers. We needed a way to challenge him with an assortment of safe and satisfying chewables, but without the risk of entanglement that comes with toys made of rope and twine.

“Mr. Feathers,” as we now love to call him, could destroy a rope toy so quickly that he’d expose hazardous strands while we were away from home for just a few hours. We wanted to provide him longer lasting toys with more variety while keeping him safe. 

This is when we designed our first refillable stainless steel platform with multiple poles sturdy enough to hold big stacks of his favorite shredders. Instead of tossing out an entire toy every time he chewed through a rope hanger, twine became exposed, or a part became dirty, we could simply refill a pole without even removing the platform from his enclosure. 

What started as a simple fix for one relentless chewer turned into a way to enrich the lives of our entire flock. We soon we began designing models for other birds — from Finches to Macaws. Today, our refillable stainless steel bird toy platforms help flock leaders everywhere ensure their birds have an ever-changing supply of stimulating playthings. All birds are beautiful — feathered or not — but we’re grateful that Mr. Feathers now spends his days shredding things other than himself.

With bird safety as our foremost priority, we verify the origin and ingredients of every material we offer. We consult with avian veterinarians here in the Bay Area to make sure our toys are bird-safe. Our toys are made with care and respect in Half Moon Bay, California with responsibly-sourced local and global materials.
